Hainanese chicken rice originated in Hainan Island, China, and was later brought to Southeast Asia, particularly Singapore and Malaysia, where it became very popular. This dish was initially brought to the region by Chinese immigrants and, after years of development and improvement, has become a local specialty with a unique flavor.

The key to Hainanese chicken rice lies in the preparation of the chicken and rice. It is so popular because of its delicious taste, simplicity, and appeal to people of all ages. The tender chicken and fragrant rice complement each other perfectly, providing an excellent texture. Moreover, the simple preparation method makes it an easy dish to cook at home, hence its widespread popularity.

Cooking method:

1. Put 700 grams (3.5 cups) of rice and 900 milliliters (4.5 cups) of water in a rice cooker.
2. Add 200 grams of Tean’s Gourmet Paste for Hainanese Chicken Rice and mix well before cooking.
3. Sprinkle some chopped green onions on the rice. Serve with poached chicken and cucumber slices.
